Subjects Taught
World Languages

I graduated with my Bachelors in Foreign Languages from Universidad del Atlántico, Barranquilla - Colombia in 2008 and I am doing a Master degree in Teaching Spanish as a foreign language and a Master degree in TESOL.

I started teaching in 2007 when I was asked to help students in low income families which was a great life experience. Then I worked at Colegio Americano de Barranquilla and Universidad del Atlántico for 5 years. In 2011 I started working with the Colombian Government in a teaching position. In 2013 I applied for a teaching position here in the United States and after one year process I got it for 2014-2015 school year. I am so happy to be here, sharing my experience and Spanish knowledge with students and staff at Southwest Middle.

I was born in Barranquilla – Colombia but I grew up in Cartagena. My father is a Public Accountant and my mother a house keeper. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister who live in Bogota that is the capital city of Colombia. In 1995 I asked my parents to let me live with my grandparents in Barranquilla. Since then I lived with them. I went to Universidad del Atlántico for 5 years. There I got a scholarship because of tennis and soccer which let me travel across the country in different competitions. I married Maria Borrego in 2008 after getting our degree. We have a son Juan David who is 5 years old. I came to the United States as part of a program that brings teacher from different countries to teach not only foreign languages but culture. I was honored to be member of Southwest Middle. I enjoy every day, every experience, every single minute with students because that is what I love, teaching for life.
